FAQ

Common Questions

What's the best time of year to visit?

There is no single “best” time to experience Barcelona — each season brings its own unique charm.

Whether you choose to join me in April, May, June, September, October, or December, you can expect a wonderful time to explore the city and discover the beauty of Catalonia. From the fresh energy of spring and the long, sun-filled days of early summer to the golden light of fall and the magic of Barcelona at Christmas, every season offers something special.

Winter here is wonderfully mild.

Whichever date you choose, you’ll discover a different side of Barcelona — and a journey designed to make you feel truly immersed in the Mediterranean way of life.

Is this trip suitable for solo travelers?

Absolutely. The majority of my guests travel solo. I’ve also had mothers and daughters, as well as pairs of friends traveling together, but most of my guests typically come on their own.

How old are the people who take your journeys?

Most of the women who travel with me are between 40 and 65 years old, although women of all ages are warmly welcome.

What matters most is not your age, but your curiosity, your sense of adventure, and your desire to experience Barcelona and beyond in a meaningful, relaxed, and authentic way.

The only requirement is that travelers be 21 or older.

How much walking is involved?

Barcelona is a city best explored on foot. While we use private transportation for longer distances, expect to walk 3-5 miles daily or more!

Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?

Yes. Whether you are vegetarian, gluten-free, or have specific allergies, just let me know in advance, and I’ll make sure that the restaurants we visit can accommodate your dietary needs.

Will I have to share a room?

Never. I believe your private time, comfort, and personal space are an essential part of the experience.

All of my standard journey pricing is based on single occupancy, so you will always have your own beautiful, private room — with no single supplements or unexpected room-sharing costs.

What language is spoken on the tours?

All curated experiences and guided walks are conducted in English.

Although I was born and raised in Barcelona, I’ve also spent three years living in the United States — between Pennsylvania and Los Angeles — and have traveled to New York countless times over the years.

So while I know Barcelona from the inside, I also understand what it feels like to experience Europe as an American traveler. I bring both perspectives to every journey, making sure you feel comfortable, connected, and completely at home as you discover my city.

Are flights included in the price?

Flights are not included. Our journey together begins once you arrive at our beautiful hotel in Barcelona.

Once your deposit has been paid and we have reached the minimum of three confirmed guests, I’ll give you the green light to book your flights. This way, you can feel confident that the journey is going ahead before making your flight arrangements.

How do I sign up for a journey?

You can book your journey directly with Sola in Barcelona or through your preferred Travel Advisor.

If you choose to book through a Travel Advisor, we’re happy to work directly with them to coordinate your journey from booking through to your arrival in Barcelona.

Do you require a deposit to reserve a spot on a journey?

Yes. A non-refundable deposit of 20% is required at the time of booking to secure and confirm your limited slot.

What is the cancellation policy?

Because our group sizes are strictly limited to 8 guests and our hotels and curated experiences are secured well in advance, the 20% deposit is non-refundable.

The remaining balance is due 60 days before departure. From that point onward, if you need to cancel your journey, the remaining balance is non-refundable.

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance with trip cancellation coverage to help protect your investment against eligible, unforeseen circumstances.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, we require all guests to have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and trip cancellations. It provides peace of mind for both you and our team.

What is the average group size?

To maintain an intimate and authentic atmosphere, our groups are limited to a maximum of 8 participants.

Keeping our groups small allows us to create a more personal experience, connect naturally with one another, and truly enjoy each destination at a relaxed pace.

Is airport transfer provided?

Yes, private airport transfers are included upon your arrival and departure. We’ll ensure your journey to and from the boutique hotel is seamless and comfortable.

Can I extend my stay?

Absolutely. Many guests choose to arrive a few days early or stay later. We are happy to help you arrange extended accommodation at our partner hotels and provide recommendations for independent exploration.

How much spending money should I bring?

Most of your main expenses — including accommodation, the majority of meals, and all curated activities — are included in your journey.

You’ll only need to budget for personal shopping, additional alcoholic beverages outside of included meals, and a few personal extras along the way.

And there’s no need to carry much cash. Credit cards are widely accepted throughout Barcelona and the destinations we visit, so paying for your personal expenses is easy and convenient.

What travel documents are required to travel to Spain?

Travelers from the United States and Canada should travel with a valid passport that meets the entry requirements for Spain and the Schengen Area.

For U.S. and Canadian citizens traveling to Spain for a short stay, an ETIAS travel authorization will also be required once the system is in operation. ETIAS is expected to begin in the last quarter of 2026.

If you hold a passport from another country, entry and visa requirements may vary depending on your nationality. Please check the current requirements with the Spanish consulate or the official European Union travel information website before your trip.

Please make sure all required travel documentation is valid and up to date well before your departure.

Can Sola in Barcelona arrange a private group tour?

Yes. If you wish to celebrate a special occasion or travel exclusively with your own group of friends, family, or clients, we can customize and host a private itinerary based on our boutique style. Please contact us at bianca@solainbarcelona.com to discuss details.

Why are your journeys quoted in US Dollars ($ USD)?

Although I am a Spain-based travel company, the majority of our guests are women traveling from the United States.

For this reason, all our journeys are priced in USD. This gives you a clear, fixed price from the moment you book, protecting your investment from currency fluctuations and taking the guesswork out of exchange rates.

It also makes the booking process simple and transparent.
